To our Agawam Soccer Association Members:
I hope everyone had really great summer and was able to spend some quality time with the family. The Agawam Soccer board and volunteers have been working hard to get this season underway starting early September. More information will be coming out shortly on dates and when things will be happening. You can always check the web site as well at www.agawamsoccer.org.
I did want to take one moment to go over our raffle ticket fundraiser that we are doing and explain what the purpose is and what we will be raising money for. We have many initiatives within the organization that we try to fund. Some are investments into our soccer league and some are charitable initiatives that we support.
Agawam Soccer for a long time has been a very charitable association with aid to our members in various methods. ASA has funded scholarships for Agawam High School Seniors for many years. The: Christopher Knight, Rich Parolo, Sullivan Family Scholarships, Danielle/DeNardo Family Scholarship, and ASA Scholarships, have put thousands of dollars into the hands of worthy students entering college. They have been generous scholarships that have made an impact and have also carried on the legacy for the people that the scholarships are named for.
Agawam Soccer has also made donations to many families that have been connected to ASA that have had struggles with health care issues and in memory of some of our members that we have lost too early in life. ASA has always tried to support our members in various methods.
Over the years, we have primarily funded these initiatives through some fundraisers we have done, donations, and some from regular registration fees. At our last board meeting it was discussed that we want to continue and grow this initiative, but market it and account for it differently. From this meeting the board has decided to establish “Agawam Soccer Charities”. It is not a new organization but a way to market and account for funds that we want to have set aside for some of the charitable initiatives that were outlined. We will be able to focus more on getting to certain dollar amounts that will help us continue to fund these initiatives.
The raffle ticket fundraiser that we are doing will be directly funding the Agawam Soccer Charities fund that we are setting up. We will also be announcing a few other fundraisers as well that will further fund this. We ask that you make a strong effort to help sell these raffle tickets and support the Agawam Soccer Charities.
The details on the raffle ticket fundraiser will be out shortly and we thank you for your anticipated support.
