Agawam Soccer Organizational Outline

Agawam Soccer is broken down into two primary divisions of soccer, InTown and Pioneer Valley.  ASA is also run by a board of directors who handle different parts of the association.

If you are new to soccer and not sure where or what league to sign up your child for, please read the following description of what ASA offers.

InTown Soccer League:

The InTown soccer league is made up of divisions for all players to play in regardless of experience or ability.  the divisions are:

4 Year old division- all players who are not 5 and not in kindergarten. Mixed genders.

Intro Division (5 year olds in kindergarten). Mixed genders.

Boys and Girls U8.  This is for all players who are 6 or 7 years of age and in the 1st or second grade. Mixed genders.

Boys and Girls U10.  This is for all players who are 8 or 9 years of age in the 3rd or 4th grade.  Players play with own gender.

Boys and Girls U12.  This is for all players who are 10 or 11 years of age in the 5th or 6th grade.  Players play with own gender.

Boys and Girls U14.  This is for all players who are 12 or 13 years of age in the 7th or 8th grade.  Players play with own gender.

High School division.  This is for all players who are in high school.  teams are usually mixed gender.



Pioneer Valley Soccer Teams

Pioneer Valley teams are teams that are put together from a organized try out that usually gets held in June.  The players making the team are expected to play a fall and spring season.  Mose age groups have two teams but in some cases a age group will only have one.  Team are from ages U9-U14.  Players are placed by age and school grades are not taken into consideration.

Travel teams play 14 regular season games under the Pioneer Valley league (www.pvjsl.org) and a series of tournaments and possibly winter indoor soccer.  Coaches are required to have taken and passed licensing courses to be eligible to coach.

These teams are for the more serious or competitive player.

Board of Directors Job Duties and Responsibilities

President:

ASA president is responsible for the overseeing of all ASA functions for InTown and Pioneer Valley teams.  President is responsible for working with Town of Agawam on all field and permit issues.  President is responsible for maintaining rules and regulations for ASA.  President will be directing yearly budget meeting.

Vice President

VP will replace President in place of absence at monthly BOD meetings.  VP is responsible for setting up and administering coach licensing for PV and InTown coaches.  VP will assist in BOD functions that are vacant or not adhered to.

Treasurer

Treasurer is responsible for all financial records for ASA including team funds and tournament.

Secretary

Secretary is responsible for keeping minutes of all meetings and recording them for record.  Minutes are recored monthly and emailed out to BOD members prior to monthly meeting.

Registrar

Registrar is responsible for recording and reporting all players to MYSA.  Registrar is responsible for administering yearly sign ups for all players in ASA including tournaments. 

VP of Pioneer Valley Teams

VP will oversee the boys and girls sides of Agawam PV teams.  VP will be responsible for setting up and administering yearly try outs and all PV events that are for all teams (pictures, try outs, parades, exct).  VP will help Boys and Girls director with overseeing roster completion.  VP will be responsible for Boys and Girls Directors and for the overall compliance of PV teams towards ASA and Pioneer Valley rules and regulations.  VP will handle any disciplinary issues with coaches and parents involved with ASA and PV.  VP will communicate with coaches on all issues and notices pertinent to PV teams.  VP will administer the duties (work schedules) of PV teams if necessary for tournaments.

Pioneer Valley Boys Director

Director will be responsible for roster and player pass completion.  Director will be responsible for getting rosters and passes to PV office and helping coaches fix any problems or issues with them.  Directors will assist VP with try-outs and with all duties involved with PV teams.  Directors will be responsible for their respected leagues with parent, player, and coach issues and will bring matters of interest to VP of PV.

Pioneer Valley Girls Director

Director will be responsible for roster and player pass completion.  Director will be responsible for getting rosters and passes to PV office and helping coaches fix any problems or issues with them.  Directors will assist VP with try-outs and with all duties involved with PV teams.  Directors will be responsible for their respected leagues with parent, player, and coach issues and will bring matters of interest to VP of PV.

VP of In-Town Soccer Program

VP of InTown is responsible for the overall functions of the InTown program.  VP will oversee and assist InTown directors with all functions.  VP is responsible for setting up and administering league sign ups.  VP is responsible for planning the InTown jamboree and league pictures.  VP will handle all parent, player,and coach disciplinary issues and communicate to BOD those issues.  VP will organize and assist in uniforms and re-orders. VP is responsible to InTown league and adhering to rules and regulations set up by ASA.  VP will be responsible for setting up and administering drafts and evaluations for players.  VP will be responsible to coordinate with all InTown coaches licensing requirements and to work with ASA VP on completion and attendance with licensing.

In-Town Boys Director

Director will be responsible for setting up teams with players and coaches.  Directors will be responsible for running drafts and evaluations for players.  Director will work with coaches and teams on all issues.  Directors will communicate uniform, equipment, or disciplinary issues to VP of InTown for assistance. Directors will assist VP of InTown will all duties including jamboree and pictures.

In-Town Boys Coordinator

Assists Boys director with all functions.

In-Town Girls Director

Director will be responsible for setting up teams with players and coaches.  Directors will be responsible for running drafts and evaluations for players.  Director will work with coaches and teams on all issues.  Directors will communicate uniform, equipment, or disciplinary issues to VP of InTown for assistance. Directors will assist VP of InTown will all duties including jamboree and pictures.

In-Town Girls Coordinator

Assists Girls Director with all functions.

INTRO and Pre K Director

Director will be responsible for setting up teams with players and coaches.  Directors will be responsible for running drafts and evaluations for players.  Director will work with coaches and teams on all issues.  Directors will communicate uniform, equipment, or disciplinary issues to VP of InTown for assistance. Directors will assist VP of InTown will all duties including jamboree and pictures.

Director of Referees

Referee director will be responsible for scheduling and recruiting referees for InTown league.  Referee director will assist ASA in the scheduling of referees for all events including tournaments and jamborees.  Referee Director will be responsible for setting up training classes  for potential referees.  Ref director will also assist and help referees become certified to do PV games as well.  Ref director will be asked to become a certified ref assignor in compliance with MYSA regulations. 

Communications Director

CD will be responsible for communicating with residents about ASA events.  Examples would be: flyer's to the schools, advertisements or articles in Agawam Advertiser, and any other form of communication with league participants.  CD will gather any team articles or league pictures for placement in local papers.  CD will be asked to create a league wide email distribution list to communicate with all members of ASA.

Tournament Director

Tournament Director will be responsible for setting up and administering all duties relevant to Agawam Soccer sponsored tournaments.  Director will work with  all members of ASA board for assistance in tournament. 

Field Operations Director

Director is responsible for all ASA owned equipment.  Storage and purchasing of equipment will be a regular duty.  Director will be responsible for working with town on all field issues.  Director will be responsible for maintenance of Robinson Pool Fields which would include; watering system, completion of fertilization, vandalism reporting, field damage, and any and all field or equipment issues. 

Webmaster

Webmaster is responsible for the overall function of the ASA web site.  Webmaster will work with coaches on setting up and maintaining team pages.  Webmaster will administer and work with hosting company as well as financial agreements with those companies. 

Concessions Coordinator

Will be responsible for purchasing, storing, and administering all functions of the ASA concession stand which would include all concessions at tournaments and field sites.
